Carmen Calvo, Vice-President of the Spanish Government, travels to Cantabria to get to know the FOLM Project first-hand

The First Vice-President and Minister of the Presidency, Parliamentary Relations and Democratic Memory of the Spanish Government, Carmen Calvo, has made an institutional visit to Cantabria, where she met the regional Vice-President, Pablo Zuloaga, and actively participated in the presentation of the FOLM project (From Outdoors to Labour Market).

The presentation of the FOLM project took place at 13:40 in the Centro de Estudios Lebaniegos Don Desiderio Gómez Señas in Potes, located in the Liébana region.

At the presidential table were:

  • Pablo Zuloaga, Vice-President of Cantabria.
  • Carmen Calvo, First Vice-President of the Spanish Government.
  • María Sánchez, Regional Minister of Economy and Finance.

The General Director of Youth, Irene Lanuza, was in charge of the welcoming ceremony. Then she gave way to Fernando Carregal, coordinator of the Outdoors Learning phase in Cantabria and the Institutional President of Grupo Femxa, Patricia García.

After their speeches, several young Cantabrian participants of the project spoke about their experience and what their participation and going through the three phases of the FOLM project has meant to them. One of them even sang a live rap about his own experience.

The Regional Minister of Economy and Finance, María Sánchez, also took part in the event, highlighting the importance of the project, as well as its effectiveness and proven success. The Vice-President of the Government of Cantabria, Pablo Zuloaga, commented on Cantabria's interest in this type of innovative training activities with young people, assuring that they are the future. Vice-president Carmen Calvo closed the event with a few words of thanks for having presented FOLM to her, and in particular, she spoke to the young people present to encourage and motivate them in whatever they set their minds to, being very enthusiastic about the initiative and making everyone share in her excitement about what she considered to be "the gift of the day".
